Comparison of key differences
Recording
Basic: Live‑View recording directly from the smartphone (manual).
Premium: event‑triggered recording (30 s on e.g. door/window or motion sensor) and 24/7 recording. All cameras support continuous recording, except the Wi‑Fi camera (no microSD slot).
Storage
Basic: local storage via microSD (all Home8 cameras except the Wi‑Fi camera). 32 GB SDHC cards required, purchased separately. Security gateways include internal or external storage depending on model.
Premium: cloud backup via your personal Dropbox account — useful when microSD space runs out or for an off‑site copy.
Motion detection
Basic: adjustable motion sensitivity; on the Mini Outdoor Full HD camera, an additional object size (%) setting.
Premium: person detection for all cameras — reduces false alarms caused by pets or irrelevant movement.
Authorised users
Basic: 1 authorised user (arm/disarm, stream, live recording, automations).
Premium: 2 authorised users in total. Access to VideoGram (history of 30 s clips of triggered events).
Levels of monitoring control
Basic: system owner + authorised users.
Premium: adds emergency contacts (push/call if no response within 5 min) and local authorities (store numbers and call directly from the app).
